I love that this phase of my career-- in which I'm freelancing, working on projects rather than a steady job-- allows for cyclical living. It nurtures my obsessive side and lets me run an obsession through its full course before moving on to the next project. Today I try out a new activity that may become a new obsession. But until I can talk about details, my latest song obsession, which has been on repeat for a week (hear it on MySpace, live performance embedded below).
You've got no time for the messenger
no regard for the thing that you don't understand
you got no fear of the underdog
that's why you will not survive
I just transitioned to the freelance world, too ... it is an odd way to make a living. I'm my own boss, but the work flow is never the same from week to week. Still, between the writing and working on my own web site (blatant plug and my current obsession) I'm probably busier than I was as a full-timer.
